WASHINGTON – (AD) – Nachfolgend veröffentlichen wir die Erklärung von US-Außenministerin Hillary Rodham Clinton zur Wahl von Dr. Jim Yong Kim zum Präsidenten der Weltbank vom 16. April 2012.

Ich freue mich sehr, dass das Exekutivdirektorium der Weltbank Dr. Jim Yong Kim im Konsens in einem offenen, transparenten und durch Wettbewerb geprägten Verfahren zum Präsidenten gewählt hat. Dr. Kim ist eine ausgezeichnete Wahl. Er wird die Weltbank in die Zukunft führen, zur Konsensbildung zwischen Geber- und Kreditnehmerländern beitragen und die zunehmend an Bedeutung gewinnende Führungsrolle der Entwicklungsländer unterstützen. Er hat gezeigt, dass er sich nachdrücklich für die Lösung einiger der dringlichsten Herausforderungen engagiert, denen wir uns gegenübersehen.

Seit über 25 Jahren setzt er sich für die Bekämpfung von Krankheiten und Hunger ein, indem er innovative Lösungen findet und Investitionen in Menschen und Gemeinschaften befürwortet.

Wir freuen uns auf die Zusammenarbeit mit Dr. Kim bei der Gestaltung einer noch stärkeren Weltbank. Gemeinsam werden wir zur Entwicklung von Volkswirtschaften beitragen, Partnerschaften aufbauen und die Armut lindern.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will travel to Mexico at the invitation of Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa on Monday, January 24, 2011.
Secretary of State Clinton and Secretary Espinosa will meet in Guanajuato to discuss key issues that the United States and Mexico face individually and as partners, including joint cooperation to combat organized crime, strengthening the competitiveness of our two economies, modernizing the border between our countries and advancing the global climate change agenda after the Cancun Summit.
The United States and Mexico share many opportunities and challenges and work collaboratively on a wide range of issues. This visit is an opportunity to reinforce the close relations between the two nations and to identify common objectives and strategies to ensure greater security and well-being for the citizens of both countries.

On January, 14, 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton issued a statement on recent events in Tunisia. She said:

"The United States continues to closely monitor the rapidly evolving events in Tunisia, where earlier today President Ben Ali left his country following several weeks of demonstrations and popular unrest. We condemn the violence and urge restraint on all sides.

"Clearly this is a moment of significant transition in Tunisia and through this period and beyond it is important that the Tunisian Government respect the right of its people to peacefully assemble and express their views. We look to the Tunisian Government to build a stronger foundation for Tunisia's future with economic, social, and political reforms, and call for free and fair elections in the near future that reflect the true will and aspirations of the Tunisian people.

"On my trip to the Middle East this week, I heard people everywhere yearning for economic opportunity, political participation and the chance to build a better future. Young people especially need to have a meaningful role in the decisions that shape their lives. Addressing these concerns will be challenging, but the United States stands ready to help.

"The United States has a long and historic relationship with Tunisia. We are committed to helping the people and government bring peace and stability to their country and we hope that they will work together to build a stronger, more democratic society that respects the rights of all people."
