Germany help the people in Pakistan

In the light of the immense damages caused by the floods in Pakistan the Federal Republic of Germany has decided to further increase its help to people affected by this natural disaster up to the amount of 15 million Euro, bringing total German immediate relief aid to 1.65 billion Rupees.

In response to the Pakistan Initial Floods Response Plan, the German Federal Foreign Office and the Ministryof Economic Cooperation and Development announced an increase of the German immediate relief to fifteen million Euro. Germany's help will be channelled through UN-Organizations and German humanitarian aid organizations to enable direct support of the people affected by the flooding.

Another project to improve water and sanitation conditions in Gilgit-Baltistan was launched on Monday in Islamabad. The “Water and Sanitation Extension Programme” is run by the Aga Khan Planning and Building Service Pakistan (AKPBSP) and is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. Germany will provide a grant of 3.12 million Euro. More than 240,000 people in 307 villages of the Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral region are expected to benefit. The project will also be a significant contribution to early recovery from the flood devastation.
