The younger brother of the United Arab Emirates president has been put to rest in Abu Dhabi five days after his glider crashed in Morocco.
The body of Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, 41, was recovered on Tuesday after a four-day search. The glider had crashed into a reservoir near the Sidi Mohamad ben Abdallah Dam, south of the Moroccan capital, Rabat. The pilot survived the crash.
Sheikh Ahmed was the managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, one of the world's largest independent wealth funds.
The institute is believed to have assets of between $500 billion and $700 billion, ranging from Citigroup bonds to a stake in Britain's Gatwick Airport.
The Sheikh was ranked No. 27 in Forbes' 2009 list of "The World's Most Powerful People."
